Town of Men at the foot of the Lonely Mountain in Wilderland. Dale was located in a sheltered valley between two spurs on the southern side of the Mountain. The valley was green and pleasant with woods on its slopes. The town was on the western bank of the River Running, which formed a wide loop around Dale before it continued its southward course to Long Lake. Dale was a town with many houses and towers and ringing bells.
