Despite its name, St. Jude's Academy has no religious affiliations. The use of a saint's name was a ploy to incite charitable donations from churches and other Christian associations. Of course, the name is quite fitting, considering the type of students who attend the academy. The delinquent teens who call St. Jude's their home are often considered beyond help, or lost causes, and the academy is their last chance to lead a life outside of jail or some other restrictive institution.
The Academy is located in picturesque Oakenbridge County, far from any civilization. Regular people have no place at St. Jude's. The school is a haven for non-humans who tried to integrate themselves into society and failed, as well as for humans who possess magical powers that they cannot control. These complications, paired with the tendency to cause trouble, has landed these teenagers in the Academy.
