Hello! My name is Kendra and I'm an alcoholic new here.
I'm a twenty-seven year old culinary art student with a baking and pastry focus who works at a liquor store. I've been robbed twice, have a dog and a cat, named my car (a silver Mercury Cougar) "Gandalf the Grey" when I got it, and I've been reading the entire LotR + The Hobbit collection pretty much once a year since I was ten. It's my all time favorite.
I might be a little rusty on RPing because I haven't done it in a couple of years due to various reasons.
I'm super glad to be here!

*waves at Kendra*
We've already met in the cbox but I figured it couldn't hurt to welcome you in this thread as well. ^^
It must be amazing fun (though challenging I'm sure) to be a culinary art student! I love to bake but I just do it in my spare time. I study history, with a focus on early modern English witchcraft, and I'm currently undertaking my Masters.
I'm sure it will take you no time at all to get into the swing of RPing. I only got back into it a few months ago myself, after taking several long years break.
Anywho, welcome to True LotR! We're super glad to have you! Your love of all things Hobbit and LotR will certainly put you in good company here. If you have any questions about anything at all, ask away.
... and getting robbed twice must have been pretty scary!!

Hello there!
Culinary school is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened to me. I've never felt so inspired and focused. Nothing really compares to when you find your calling and pursue it. Oh wow! Your area of study sounds super interesting! I kind of love history! What kind of career are you hoping to pursue when you get your degree?
Thanks for being so welcoming~!
And yeah, they were both pretty terrifying. But they're part of what spurred me to find focus and get out of where I work and all that good stuff... so good things did come from it!

Although we've already met by now, I wanted to add some input too! ^_^ 1. Gandalf the Grey is an amazing car to own. 2. Your tradition of reading the books each year is absolutely amazing! What a wonderful thing to do! It truly is one of those series that you can just keep reading (or, in the case of the movies, watching) without them ever growing old. I'd love to start a tradition like that--such a nice thing to look forward to, like a self-made holiday or something! ^o^ I have to run to get ready for work, but again, it's quite nice to meet you! ^_^/ Happy RP-ing!!

There's a sticker I want to put in the back window of Gandalf that's a silhouette of the Fellowship. It's supposed to be a laptop cling, but I want it so badly as a window cling. xD
The thing I love about rereading the books is that I almost always find something new in them, even if it might just be a part I forgot about. It always seems like part of it is a new story, and I adore that!
I hope work went well for you!

Ooh, your car sounds amazing! I wish I had thought of that, instead of naming mine Tracey and covering her in colourful flower stickers... X]
It's fantastic that you've found your calling! That's how I feel about witchcraft history, while it may not be everyone's cup of tea I completely love it. I'm hoping to get the funding to go on to do my Ph.D this September. After that perhaps I'll lecture, become a researcher or work in a museum. ^^ What about you? What are your plans for after you've completed your studies?
And I'm so glad to hear that good things have come from the robberies, as terrifying as they were.

Gandalf is a trooper! I love him dearly, mostly because he gets me back and forth to class with pretty much no issues. xD I name everything off of literary characters, though. My laptop is Jabberwocky, my external is Bandersnatch, and my temporary/replacement iPod is Salazar.
Researching and museum-work sounds interesting! That's a particularly fascinating area of history to be delving into! I hope to go and be a pastry chef on a cruise ship for a while. I figure it's the easiest way to see some of the world while working and to be able to pay off my loans quickly since I won't have much to spend money on if I'm stuck on a boat most of the time. Then one day I hope to open my own dessert-only restaurant, and eventually a bakery!

We have, in fact, already met, but I'm here to welcome you officially! \(^0^)/ All of that is absolutely awesome (minus the robbed twice! O.O), and I feel like I'm going to need to ask you to start shipping yummies here to Japan for me! Hahaha~ It must be equally fantastic to be able to get into a car named Gandalf the Grey... Imagine if it spoke, too? You get in, and it says in Ian McKellen's fantastic voice, "Where to, my lovely lady?"You guys would have the best conversations! I also think it's pretty darn awesome that you've made a tradition of reading the books. Wow, that is something really great to look forward to!! ^^ You're going to be just fine roleplaying--don't worry one bit! Plus, none of us here bites!! (We get time-out in a troll cave for a few days if we even dare. ) With that...welcome!! \(^0^)/

If I could, I would definitely express mail some goodies to you! Part of why I love baking is because it makes people so happy! And I'm a definite people pleaser! xD
OHMYGOD. If my car spoke, especially in Ian McKellan's voice, I would die of joy. That... would be fantastic! And if he would speak like Gandalf, I feel like I would learn a lot on my drive to school. xD
It is! I have to finish my Harry Potter re-read before I can get to doing it this year.
Thanks for such a warm welcome! I can't wait to get into a thread with you~!
