SMEAGOL - GOLLUM
[/center]
THE BASICS:Name: Smeagol "Gollum"
Age: 511..give or take
Gender: Male
Race: Stoor/Early Hobbit
Birthplace: Hobbiton
Current Location: Misty Mountains
Weapon(s): hands and feet
APPEARANCES:Facial Appearance: Gollum’s facial appearance isn’t all that interesting. His skin is pale and his eyes, deep sky blue, are large and bulging. He resembles a Hobbit, he’s got everything they have (except hair – unless the few strands he has can be called ‘hair’), nose, mouth, ears.
Build: Gollum is a skinny, gangly creature. His arms are long and nearly all skin and bone, but he’s remarkably strong for both his age and his skinny build.
Distinguishing Marks: Uhm, nothing really.
Face Claim: Andy Serkis
A LITTLE MORE IN-DEPTH:Personality: Gollum’s personality, well, that’s difficult but I’ll do my best. Due to Gollum’s years spent under the One Ring’s corruption he has developed a kind of dissociative identity disorder. His two sides are called Smeagol, his real name when he was a Hobbit, and Gollum, a name given to him because of his gurgling coughs.
Smeagol is the “good” guy of the pair but often goes along with what Gollum suggests. While Gollum is hard and cold, Smeagol tends to be a bit more light-hearted and loveable. He’s eager-to-please, hence the reason he does as Gollum says, trying to please the darkness hiding within him. It’s said that Smeagol vaguely remembers love and friendship from his time as a hobbit, but no one can tell for sure due to the instability of his multiple personality disorder. Don’t get me wrong, Smeagol is still a nasty little creature, but not as nasty as Gollum.
Gollum, the “bad” guy, is a slave to the Ring and will kill anyone who tries to take it. He’s harsh and cold, unlike the goofy Smeagol who sings about fish. The two personalities, as if they were one, often quarrel with one another forming an odd love/hate relationship which resembles the love and hate Gollum feels for both himself and the Ring.
History: Smeagol spent his early years living with his extended family his grandmother, a Matriarch. However, around the year TA 2463 Smeagol became the fourth Bearer of the One-Ring, after Sauron, Isildur and Deagol – who happened to be Smeagol’s cousin. Smeagol’s birthday started the day of his corruption. Smeagol and Deagol had gone fishing in the Gladden Fields north of the mountains. Deagol, not strong enough to pull it in, was thrown overboard after losing the struggle with a large fish, but succeeding in finding the One Ring. However, the Ring wouldn’t remain in Deagol’s possession for long for Smeagol demanded it as a birthday present. When Deagol refused, Smeagol strangled his cousin, being further corrupted by the gold ring. Due to Smeagol being the reason for Deagol’s death the once predecessor of the Stoorish Hobbits was banished by his people. From there, he found a home in a cave in the Misty Mountains in about the year of TA 2470. The ring, which he took to calling either his “Precious” or his “Birthday Present (a justification for killing Deagol), twisted his Hobbit body and mind, prolonging his life beyond natural limits.
For over four hundred years the banished Hobbit lived in the Misty Mountains living off of raw blind fish (and occasionally goblins) and changing. During the centuries under the Ring’s influence, Smeagol developed a split personality – Gollum and Smeagol – the bad being Gollum and the good being Smeagol.
July TA 2941 came around, announcing Smeagol to be 511 years old and that is where our story begins. The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins will stumble upon the cave that Gollum calls home and the Ring will fall into his hands. Smeagol will strike up a deal –between life and death- with the Hobbit. Most of all, Gollum will lose his Precious to the very Hobbit’s whose heir will be his death…

“Gollum! Gollum!” The gurgling cough echoed across the rocks littering the floor of the Misty Mountains as the creature crouched at the water’s edge. “Sneaking Bagginses...” growled the creature, his bulging blue eyes narrowed and his mouth twisted down into a scowl. “We shall catch it and we shall stabs its eyeses out!” Declared the creature in his rasping tone. “Precious! My Precious!” Gollum wailed, “Gone! Gone! Gone!”
“Thief! Thief! Baggins! We hates it forever!” He had screamed after the fleeing figure of his precious’s thief and now Gollum screamed it out again. He clutched his face in his bony hands, rocking back and forth on the bank of the still water, only disturbed by the occasional flick of a fish’s tail. Mutters, muffled by the surface of his pale hands, traveled senselessly from the creature’s mouth as each rock on his hunches threatened to hurtle him into either sanity or insanity. For the moment, sanity won over and the pale creature slowly lowered his bony hands from his face. He blinked, his large blue eyes scanning the cave.
The flick of a fish tail caught his attention and his eyes caught on that spot, studying it as the water rippled announcing the unsuspecting fish – Smeagol’s prey. His head cocked, his unblinking eyes staring into the water, his muscles coiling beneath his skin. “Arrh!” cried out Smeagol as he pushed himself off the bank, crashing into the water and grabbing for the fish, his hands striking the water over and over.
Smeagol’s eyes shone with triumph, as he pulled the fish from the water. He growled with it jumped from his hands, the slippery scales not catching in Smeagol’s wet palms. “Ahh!” frowned the gangly creature as the fish tried to get away. His bony hands clenched onto its tail and he slammed its head down onto a rock. “The rock and pool is nice and cool,” the pale creature began to sing, as he swayed, smacking the fish down onto the rocks again. “Our only wish,” another half-hearted smack, “is to catch a fish,” he smacked it harder but still it trashed slightly in his iron hold, “so juicy sweet!” When it still struggled, he did it again and again, the dull thud echoing throughout the cavern. “Soo juicy sweeeeett!!” Smeagol sang, feeling light-hearted and in a perfect mood despite the disappearance of his beloved ‘precious’.
Finally that danged fish stopped its struggling, but Smeagol gave its head once last smack to the rocks to make sure it was really dead. He crawled from the water, his lopsided teeth puncturing the scaly skin of the trout. Dripping wet, he hopped over to a large rock, settling down onto it and pulling the fish from his mouth, letting a chuck of flesh melt into his mouth, savoring the juicy insides of the dead water animal.
He ripped viciously into it, all savoring gone, chewing nosily, and causing blood to leak from the corner of his mouth and down his chin. He either didn’t notice or didn’t care as he continued to devour the raw fish. He tore off the head, crunching down into the fish’s thin skull and eating it whole. The head and skull he didn’t mind eating, the ribcage however was a different story. Smeagol didn’t enjoy getting continuously poked in the mouth by the sharp rib bones and stuck to tearing the meat from the bones.
Upon finishing his lunch, or perhaps it was his second breakfast – he couldn’t be sure, Smeagol threw the remnants of the trout over his shoulder carelessly, not even hearing the snap of the bones on the stone ground. He jumped down from the rock, landing on all fours and proceeding to wander back towards the water edge, lying in wait for his next unfortunate victim.
