May I Tempt You With a Cup of Chamomile?

Hey gang! Dori's been approved, so I guess I should start putting him to good use as a character on here! But first I suppose I should let him say a few words.

Ahem. May I introduce...

Dori

Well hello there! Please, come in, come in. May I offer you a cup of tea? Or perhaps a nice glass of red wine? I think I have a biscuit or too stashed away in the kitchen. No, no, please, sit, I'll get it for you. Not a problem at all.

My name is Dori. That's quite all right if you haven't heard of me. I do hail from the line of Durin (though on the wrong side of the blanket) and am a distant relation of the great Thorin Oakenshielf. Perhaps you've heard of my brothers? There's young Ori - he's got quite the knack for writing and drawing, I'm proud to say - and then there's Nori, whom I advise you to, uh, well, be careful about. Maybe keep a close eye on your possessions while you're around him, if you catch my drift. I live in the Blue Mountains and I like to think I've built a proper life for myself there, though it seems like I shall be off adventuring with this Gandalf fellow and a company of dwarves (no thanks to my brothers) for a long while. I'm not quite sure what to expect, though I have a hunch that I'm not going to like it. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all turns out. Anyway, I'm sure our paths will cross at some point on the journey. I hope we meet again soon, under positive circumstances!

Basically, I'm up for just about anything. If anyone's got a character they'd like to play out a scene with Dori, or an already ongoing plot he can jump into, let me know. It's been a while since I've RP'd, so I wouldn't mind if someone helped me get started out. I could see Dori going on a side quest while on the journey to reclaim Erebor, or maybe if someone would like to meet him while he's still at the Blue Mountains? I'm up for anything, and I'd love to get him started!

I'm about to hit up your welcome thread as well, but most definitely had to stop by your plot thread for Dori!

I'd actually love for a normal-ish post in the Blue Mountains with Dori! (I suppose before the actual quest for Erebor!) ^^ I feel like that could be quite a bit of fun! ^^ (I get the impression neither Dori nor Balin really wants to go on the quest at the beginning, haha, so that makes some good fodder~ ^^; And I think there has to be some closeness between Balin and Ori, whatever that might be, since they do end up going together to Moria. Perhaps Balin's relationship with Dori figures into that somehow.)

But anyway, I'm definitely up for an adventure post with Dori, too! Right now Bilbo, Gandalf, and Balin from the quest are all definitely approved to roleplay, and soon there will be a Thorin, Fili, and Kili, as well! I'm actually up for doing an adventure post with Dori, say in Mirkwood or when the spiders attack? Maybe the two of us can get separated from the rest of the group? (Hahaha, which will essentially mean a lot of "getting lost" for Balin, but that's okay. He's getting old. )

Really though, it could be quite fun! Just let me know what kind of post you are up for and if you want to do one with Balin, because I'd be happy to set it up for us! ^^

On the more character interaction note... I don't think Balin and Dori know each other well, but they do come from the same blood line, so I get the feeling they would interact well enough! I also feel like there are a lot of things the two of them see eye-to-eye with, and I'm just about positive that Balin would admire Dori's fondness for his family. Balin himself sees all the dwarves, most especially Thorin (and perhaps Bilbo, as well, or to at least some degree), as family he longs to look out for and protect. This could be a cool chance to give these two dwarves some bonding time, since we don't get enough of that in the books and all!

Oh yes! I'd love to start up a plot with you!

I think, since this will be my first one on the site, a more normal-ish plot might be the best to start out with. So maybe we could try the Blue Mountains one before the quest for Erebor has fully taken off? That could be interesting. I agree with you about how I think the two of them would see eye-to-eye about a lot of things and get along, even if they don't know each other very well. Maybe Balin's built a relationship of sorts with Ori as a mentor, and that's how Dori and Balin have come to know each other (despite being related).

Then maybe once that plots been going on for a while we could do one set in Mirkwood! I think that one has so much potential for being fun. I can just see those two fumbling around, fighting off spiders, and Dori complaining about it every step of the way. XD

I like the idea of Balin helping mentor Ori! That sounds like quite a bit of fun! ^^ And it would probably make sense, too, in the context of the entire Moria ordeal. If Dori knows Balin was a (hopefully, haha) good mentor to his younger brother, than perhaps he wouldn't mind letting him go off with him as much. (I'm sure he'd still have some concerns anyway, poor guy. ^^ And Balin would probably greatly admire Ori's appreciation for reading and writing. That would be quite cool to plot out with Ori, and could definitely work in the long-run for the canon stuff!

Let's definitely keep the Mirkwood one in mind. xD In the meantime, I set up one in the Blue Mountains!

Pumpkin, I saw that you had posted the thread right when I got home from school, which then led me to flail about my bedroom in pure excitement!

I haven't looked at it just yet (I'm in the process of making dinner and doing some homework right now), but I'm planning on reading it later tonight and getting a start on Dori's response! Can't wait to see what you've gotten started! ;D
