FíliEighty Two • Single • DwarfAccess Chamber RecordAt eighty two years of age, Fíli is rather young for a Dwarf, and his appearance gives little indication of his princely status - but don't underestimate him because of this! Thorin Oakenshield has trained his nephew well and Fíli is a dab hand with all kinds of weaponry. Just don't ask him what actual, hands-on experience of battle and war he has had. Fíli is adventurous, mischievous, fiercely loyal (particularly to his uncle and brother) and can, at times, overestimate himself and his abilities. His world revolves around his little brother, Kíli, and the pair spend a great deal of time together. Fíli's appearance gives little indication of his princely status and, unlike other Dwarf folk, Fíli is more interested in music than gold, silver and gems. As Fíli has seen little of the world thus far I do not see him straying far from Ered Luin prior to the quest to Erebor - though he may have ventured out to some parts of Eriador. I'm completely open to ideas. We can have fun in Ered Luin prior to the quest, or go on side-quests, whatever your heart desires.

Looking good for 82! (^_<)
So, Balin is something of an uncle to Fili and his brother, and I imagine that he would have been something of a mentor to them, too, while growing up. Thorin is a very serious king--stubborn and strong-willed--and there were probably points where Fili and Kili may have felt they had disappointed him in some way, and/or been punished by him. (Thinking of the movie here, for example, after the talk about orc raids! ^^; Because I think that was gorgeous characterization on all their parts!) Probably in those kinds of times, Balin would have been like the sort of grandfather figure that Fili and his brother could have turned to for advice. I think he would especially want to console them: let them know that Thorin loves them, and that perhaps he is specifically tough on them for that very reason!
So I imagine that sort of grandfather-grandchild relationship here, even if that's not exactly how they're related~ ^^; As in the "get in trouble with the parents, progress immediately to the grandparents" type deal, hehe~
I think we have a lot of great ideas for posts together already, too! ^^ I tend to not write things down and just keep them floating around in my head, all with the hopes of not forgetting, but thankfully we have this lovely board to prevent that! So I think the post with Thorin and a super young Fili and Kili in the Blue Mountains (or wherever!) would be tons of fun for sure~ And we could have other good family posts, too, I imagine!
If I can think of other fun ideas for posts, too, I will certainly let you know! I'm definitely ready for any posts whenever you are~ ^^

I'm sure we could come up with a fun interaction for Dori and Fili. While they're probably not extremely close, they are distant relatives and must have some connection before the quest (and going on a side quest sounds great as well). I'm always up for anything.

So i wish to start plotting with Fili and Iduna now,so that once shes accepted we can just role with it. Since both of these dwarfs seem to be so curious with he world around them, I was wondering maybe a little side quest. Where they sneak out and of course get themselves into trouble. Maybe she egged him on enough to leave the city. Im up for anything else too of course. Just letting the plot bunnies go.

Is there any development as to the Kíli AU you mentioned in cbox?

Pumpkin:I can see Fíli really looking up to Balin, as a role model and a mentor. After all, Balin is a warrior! And I loved that scene in the movie too, it said so much about the relationship between those Dwarves. It stands to reason that Fíli would turn to Balin whenever Thorin gives him a hard time and that Balin, in turn, would give the young Dwarf the comfort and reassurance that he might not otherwise get from his uncle. I am totally up for, and ready for, a thread in the Blue Mountains with young Fíli and Kíli, Balin and Thorin. Perhaps we can role-play out the scene from Fíli's past, where Kíli goes missing - or we can do something else entirely. Either way, brother Dwarflings are a must. Hee hee! We'll co-ordinate with Simba and Hades and get the ball rolling ASAP. ^^ Puck:Oh, I would love to get Dori and Fíli together! I rather liked the suggestion that Fíli and Kíli could become roguish mentors to Ori (their hearts would be in the right place, they just wouldn't be very good at it) so perhaps we could have a thread for Fíli, Kíli, Dori and Ori? Any suggestions for a scenario? I shall get my thinking cap on! Fox:I can see Fíli getting up to mischief with Iduna. After all, he wouldn't want a Dwarf woman to doubt his courage! I don't see him straying from their home but they could certainly venture off into some of the darker parts of Ered Luin. Poor Thorin... he has his work cut out with this Fíli one getting into trouble! X] And as for the Kíli AU thread, there's been no movement to get it started yet but it's only a matter of time.

True, who knows what lurks in the depths of the caves. There must be some sort of trouble under the blue mountains. And she would poke fun at him for forever if he didnt prove himself, thats jsut the kind of pest she is. Never let it go. Oh poor Thorin. And poor Kili for getting left behind.
