I just stumbled across a handy website that lists the distances between various places in Middle Earth and outlines how long it would take to travel between them on horse or on foot. I was going to post it on here for you guys but then I realised I wasn't sure where it would go! So I was thinking that it might be worthwhile having either a thread or a board where useful online resources can be listed. Here's the link I was telling you about: The Original Series: Travel Times in Middle EarthThen, of course, for general information regarding characters and places there is always: One Wiki to Rule Them All: The Lord of the Rings Encyclopedia(I know Gandalf has already linked to this Wiki in the 'Making A Canon!' topic but perhaps it should also go somewhere more prominent) Just a thought! ^^

This is fantastic! And the Wiki that you posted is the one I always use and recommend to others, too! ^^ It would be kind of cool to have a resource list somewhere on the site for people looking for extra information about the characters or backgrounds (like the one Gandalf posted). Maybe if the admin are interested and want extra help with something like that, we could all pitch in? ^^ I also have some other decent recommendations: And this is pretty cool, too. Apparently Tolkien had a more in-depth explanation of Gandalf's journey and what led up to the Quest for Erebor in a little piece called, heh heh, "The Quest for Erebor." I haven't found the full original text for that yet, but I did find this, and it certainly helped (and was interesting!): The Quest for Erebor Side StoryIt would be really great to have a resource list like this! ^^

Great idea! We now have a thread that lists those sites and other members can add onto. Thanks for the suggestion!
